Collecting diecast and collectable model cars is a very popular pastime among many people, and it is a hobby that I took up at a very young age that has continued as I have gotten older. In fact, I now have a whole room full of model cars that I often show to my guests in order to make an impression. Not only that, but it is also a hobby that I have passed down to my son, who is now building his own collection that is modeled after mine, and it has become a bit of a bonding experience for the two of us.

To those who do not collect these model cars themselves, they are nothing more than toys, but for those of us who have been building a collection for years and years, it has become something much more. For many car enthusiasts, it is something that our fathers and friends are also interested in. I also share this passion with my sons. Because of the nature of model cars, young boys tend to take an immediate interest in it, which means I have found common interest with my sons from a young age.

Of course, as my son has gotten a little bit older, he has taken a liking to different brands than I have. For me, Biante has always been my favorite brand, but my son has seemed to take more of a liking to classic carlectables. In fact, each and every time we go to any model car shop, it is the classic carlectables that he goes to check out immediately. We have even taken up the hobby of debating with one another about which brands of cars are better, but it is all in good fun as we both realize that it is simply an individual preference. Whether we agree on our favorite brands of cars or not, we still enjoy going to the shop and choosing our next acquisition together.

One of the great things about our local shop is the fact that there is that they are always friendly and informed, waiting to answer all of our questions. We often make a day of it to take a trip to the shop. I certainly can’t afford to always purchase new model cars for us, but just being inside a shop full of so many different kinds of cars is something that we enjoy doing together.
